Lidl Hungary has inaugurated a substantial logistics hub in Kiskunfélegyháza, backed by an investment nearing 60 billion forints, equivalent to approximately €162 million. This new facility marks the largest warehouse for Lidl in the country and is set to service around 70 stores across the region. Spanning over 83,000 square meters, the center has already created more than 400 job opportunities, with plans to recruit an additional 50 staff members shortly.

The logistics center is equipped with 194 loading docks and a specialized 24,000-square-meter refrigerated section. It incorporates advanced energy-efficient technologies, including a 9,000-square-meter rooftop solar panel installation and a system that repurposes waste heat from refrigeration for underfloor heating. To enhance the ecological footprint, a 10,000-square-meter biodiverse green space has been developed around the premises.

Designed to bolster Lidl’s national distribution network, the center is poised to dispatch approximately 4,500 pallets of goods daily. This development signals Lidl’s commitment to fortifying its supply chain efficiency and operational capacity in Hungary. With the opening of this logistics hub, Lidl aims to further support its store network and ensure a steady supply of products throughout the country.

Currently, Lidl operates 220 stores across Hungary, sourcing nearly 60% of its merchandise from local suppliers. The establishment of this logistics center is a strategic move to facilitate Lidl’s ongoing growth and enhance its market presence within the nation. This facility not only underscores Lidl’s investment in Hungary’s retail sector but also reflects its dedication to expanding its domestic operations sustainably.
